In which Blooms Drip, Hellebores

Brooklyn is full of magical things. Among them, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Last week, strong pink cupped petals, pleasantly shaped greenhouses, blooms that dripped, hellebores (hellebores, hellebores), and one brave turtle trying to eat the petals all up. I gave the turtle a little name, but he did not like the name said go away can't you see I have enough to deal with like all these ginormous fishes and only petals to eat. So I said hellebores, hellebores, hellebores and stood and smelled the breeze.

Oh my goodness that tree with the flowers all hanging down. I have lots of hellebores in my back yard but no trees with hanging flowers and now I want one. Actually I have always wanted one, I just didn't know.

and just like that, she wraps the post without ever telling us what she called the turtle. DAMES.

Isn't the BBG wonderful? I went in February when it was heavy with snow and footprints and twigs, but I'm excited to see it in its prime

We were going to go yesterday but I long to go on a day when the grass isn't too soggy for lying under pink trees and dreaming.
