Earl Grey, Yes Please

A bizarre and wondrous tea rap to set you humming this day. Fairly shaky from the gallons of tea I've consumed thus far, I fully intend to sip more with biscuits, more with toast, porridge before the week is through. I may or may not be interested in selling someone's grandmother for a cup.

I'll see you darlings next week. There are babies to tromp with and friends with whom to sing Les Miserables over breakfast. There is a headcold to banish, there are effigies to burn, and a few things remain to pack in, pack up before I head south this weekend.

God save the Queen,
A.

"...she ain't no human bein'"!

...sorry, years of conditioning. i saw the queen once, when she came to oxford for an Important Anniversary at one of the colleges; she went by in a motorcade as we craned on the cobblestones, and she would have been quite difficult to see had it not been for the fluorescence of her yellow suit (and hat, of course). that woman wears suits in ways the rest of us can only dream about.

Oh dear. As a tea drinker I get so shakey in the UK, because I Cannot. Stop.

I hope you're following Orwell's tea rules, dear girl, so you can feel "wiser, braver and more optimistic" in jolly old E.

Mmmmm with just a bit of milk. If a box of Marks and Spencer Earl Grey happens to find its way into your suitcase and then make it back to the states with you, then I might have to fly to NYC to have a cup of tea with you.

Songs of angry men indeed.

Amazing!

I get the tea shakes too. Sometimes, on Saturdays, I start drinking tea at 7 am and then around 3:30 D looks over at me and says "ohmygod have you eaten anything today and how many cups of tea have you had? here, let me get you a sandwich immediately"

So really, it works out for the best.

Are you just drinking earl grey or are you having "builder's" (AKA normal tea) too? And are you having milk? I need to know you're getting the full British experience, not some fancy pants imitation!

Hope you're feeling better and enjoyed an excellent Bonfire Night xx

No need to worry, Cate! Drinking heaps of regular tea, with milk, milk, milk, all the time. In fact, I haven't touched EG since I got here.

What cleverness. I chuckled at the bit about herbal tea!

I found you via Cate Subrosa, LPC and Meg. I love your words and attitude and sense of adventure. I live in York, England and would love to meet you... if meeting complete strangers who are probably friendly is something you might like to do? I will even buy you tea... pam at ury dot york dot ac dot uk, or ask Cate where to find me on Facebook.

Happy travels!
