Hoard, Keep: Acorn Caps, Thumbtacks

A bit of autumn from the desk of this milkmaid today. The acorns, picked up at Central Park and Greenwood Cemetery, make all the difference toward the end of the week, when I yearn to be out-of-doors. They make me feel gladder about the grown-up sorts of things haunting my desk. Now: What to do with them?

The tiny dishes, incidentally, hail from CB2. They catch my hoardings oh-so nicely, and their smooth lines and slight price-tag cry out for giving into. Your acorn caps and thumbtacks will thank you.

6 maids a-milking:

Oh Amanda, you are a cowgirl after my own heart. I discovered your *darling* and most refreshing blog a little while ago but don't think I have left a comment yet...I can't even begin to describe how marvelously witty, cerebral and sincere I find each post. Yours is a rare gem in a minefield of, I hate to say it, many cute but substance-deprived blogs. I live in the desert now but I used to live in New York, and your little musing on the rattly see-you-laters at Macy's inspired a surprised and delighted "ha!"from yours truly. Looking forward (very much) to more poetry, musings and vignettes from your (rich, creative) life. xo lily

Lauren: OH MY LORD. I must get there. I MUST GO. I MUST. This is the most wonderful thing in all the land. And in Greenwood, to boot. Oh.

Lily: Thank you for the kind, kind comment. I'm always happy to meet a kindred cowgirl. And satisfied "ha"s are the best kind--I'm glad to have elicited one.

I love the word thumbtack. (We call them drawing pins.)
