They have some other things, too, like best friends and sheeps and squidgy littles and a very nice river and small children who say "you mustn't forget" and slugs that creep up your skirt when you've been kicking leaves, leaving muddy trails further up than you care to have slugs, thank you very much. And pasties and sausage rolls. We mustn't forget them.
{Spooky mossy photo by me}

13 maids a-milking:
I spent the year of being 11 in England. We definitely mustn't forget. I hope they also still cry out, "Super!!" when excited.
Thank goodness you didn't encounter any broke-ass improper ghost, all lazy, trying to scare house pets that can't be bothered, or children far too stuffed from a traditional english breakfast for anything like running or hollering.
Also, if you think you see a great big group of wooly ghosts on a hill during the twilight of evening, fear not. Oh, they're ghosts. They're just chewing their ghost cud. I read about it in The New Yorker circa 1940s.

Ooh la la! Fun! Are you allowed to bring home some fuzzy moss with you?

Lucky Durham :)
My dear, it would entertain me greatly if you would make a little collection of things we say that sound strange or different or quaint to your American ears. Greatly.
Squee! I miss England. If only I miss Cornwall, and cornish pasties, which are so much better than the other kinds. And mustn't forgetting. :)
have fun!
Mmm, durham!
