Chickens, Stove

This week I am missing last year's CSA. I am missing last year's CSA and I am missing the kitchen in my little Denver carriage house, which was full and charming and nothing less than wonderful even if it DID have ugly green linoleum.

And all I want to do today and the next day and the next is can jam and make ratatouille and a big bowl of quinoa and Zuni Cafe's roast chicken and bread salad. And then I would feast on it all week long. And while I was cooking I would eat cheese and sliced tomatoes and crusty bread and probably melon with basil and prosciutto and drink prosecco and slice watermelons and rinse bowls of cherries for putting on oatmeal and make french-press coffee and pots of peppermint tea and PIE and that is how I would know that it is nearly late summer or fall and that I am home, home, home.

that all sounds wonderful! i'd love to get involved with a CSA but i haven't been in the same place long enough to do so yet. maybe next year!

Please forgive my consumerism but Le Creuset pots are among the things that comfort me in their sheer being. Also please forgive my ignorance but what is a CSA?

Aww. No kitchen in NYC?

BTW, I love that Zuni Cafe recipe. Greatest roasty chicken of all time.

LPC: "CSA" stands for "Community-Supported Aggriculture." You pay a local farm for produce in advance, and then they drop bundles of their (local, seasonal, organic) produce to a pick-up in various neighborhoods once a week throughout the growing season. It's a great way to support local, seasonal food, and you get the tastiest everythings.

Mouse: I have a kitchen, just my Denver was was rawther large and better for keeping things in.

Huh. Can you believe that living in Northern California I didn't know that? Far too many years in an office I do believe.

zuni cafe is the best...that's one thing i miss about living in sf. we used to walk from our cute victorian on henry street down to zuni to have the cesar salad and garlic fries and sit on the sidewalk tables. best. lunch. ever.

and your kitchen looks CUTE!

You *have* been reading A Homemade Life, haven't you?

Country foods, fresh fruits, veggies, spare bakeware and now a grill. The beginnings of a garden. And like Erika, You have my stove! Or I yours. And I would very much like to remember your tips for making pies. These have all been the best therapies for summer.
