Sandals, Cling

One of my big NYC surprises was how ill-prepared my shoe wardrobe was for living here. I mean, I'd spent quite a lot of time here before I moved, and I was walking almost everywhere in Denver by the end of my time there. But somehow neither of these things prepared my feet for the walking that is living in NYC. And now that the days are turning warmer, I'm running into trouble with sandals. Because wearing flip-flops doesn't work in NYC--not for me, anyhow. They flip, they flop, they rub. And my beloved Mephistos are just quite simply too heavy. I need sandals that cling to my foots when I lift them, and that are cushy enough to cradle, to withstand heat and city and sass. One of these, mayhaps?

Plus, the dirt if you wear flippiefloppies...

They sometimes have good cheapies at H&M, which I love because I will wear out a pair of sandals in a summer, regardless of quality. But I like the blue ones. And I like the white ones, but I'm scared of white shoes in NYC.

Oh, I know, this is tricky! I wear a sleek pair of strappy black leather sandals from Birkenstock when I'm out and about on the town. They're stylish without being clunky!

I like sandals with lots of strappies to hold them on tight. Sandals that flop and flip annoy me something rotten. I like the white ones, they're pretty.

i concur - the white corso comos are boss (though they're all very pretty). i'm having similar sandal issues, and have been tempted to buy some (gulp) gladiators. is that wrong?

i love gladiators in the city. They hold onto the ankle. The ones i have are SUPER comfy. But yes- dirt feet are shocking when you get home. lol

I am also woefully unprepared for my first summer in New York. Shoes do take on a whole new level of importance here. I'm looking for the perfect sandals too after years of wearing flip flops constantly in the beach town where I lived before. Thanks for the ideas. I really like the blue pair.

Nice collection.

I have been living in my gladiators, so put my flip-flops on today. Yup, they're so much harder work to walk in. Back to the sandals tomorrow, methinks.

I have been squeamish about gladiators. But they are growing on me. Just. a. little.

It's an exaggeration to even call mine gladiators, to be honest: http://www.newlook.co.uk/1614696/161469693/ProductDetails.aspx

I rocked many a pair of good old havaianas in the city, but I feel you. Love the shape of the white ones, but do they come in black? Black is your friend.

Beware the puddles of garbage juice.
