Remember that yarn I wanted to bury my face last weekend? I bought it.
I bought it and it's the most beautiful yarn in the entire world.
It's the most beautiful yarn in the entire world, and it is made by Habu Textiles, who says yarn is "the soul of fabric." And who sells their yarn by heft, rather than length.
I like this--this buying textiles by the pound. "Summer-weight" fabrics make me giddy, transport me into breathy, whispery linens on beaches. So check out Habu Textiles; they import handmade things, careful things. Like handspun cottons, bamboo, summer-weight wool. And they sell their yarn by the pound.
Have I buried my face in it? Why yes. Yes, I have.
7 maids a-milking:
Now I want to too :)
Lovely! I hope you heft yourself something nice. What are you making?
i don't knit, but now seems as good of a time as any to start.
I do knit. Love knitting. I'm thinking you do too?
Of course by now I'm sure you're not surprised that my family spins their own yarn. Not me though, I'm a rebel like that. (it sounds like I make these things up, I'm aware, but it's all true.)
Beautiful! What are you going to make? We'll want pictures, of course.
Meg: Because Hobbit gifts weren't quite enough?! There's yarn-spinning too? Will your parents TEACH ME?! Do they also keep goats?
As for what, I think it'll be a large summer shawl, but I'm still poking around te Internets for inspiration. There a *lot* of yarn in this skein; perhaps I will knit a whole tent.
It makes me think of the perfect shrug I didn't quite manage to find/commission/knit (ha!) for my wedding.
